Deutsche Telekom Stiftung realigns itself
STEM focus will be expanded, target groups will be recast
Digitalization is changing the face of education and highlighting the question of what skills people will need in the future in order to successfully shape their own lives as well as society at large. It is Deutsche Telekom Stiftung’s view that knowledge of various domains is still essential for a good, well-rounded education. However, people also need soft skills such as critical thinking and creativity. We have accommodated this reality by adopting a new strategic alignment in the summer of 2019.
In short:
- In the future, we want to change school rather from the outside in by helping schools open up more and collaborate with outside partners such as youth welfare services, makerspaces or libraries.
- We will focus our projects on 10- to 16-year-olds and enable them to take responsibility – for their educational careers, for their lives and for challenges facing society.
- We will help the adults guiding the 10- to 16-year-olds on this path – such as teachers, social workers and librarians.
- In the future, the foundation will design and execute projects that enable children and teenagers to address and solve real-life STEM challenges. To accomplish that goal, our projects will teach STEM skills alongside soft skills such as critical thinking, sound judgment and creativity.
