Forum Education and Digitalization
Learning in a digitalized world
Forum Education and Digitalization is a collaborative initiative of eight German foundations. They include not only Deutsche Telekom Stiftung, but also Bertelsmann Stiftung, Dieter Schwarz Stiftung, Joachim Herz Stiftung, Robert Bosch Stiftung, Siemens Stiftung, Vodafone Stiftung and Wübben Stiftung.
The initiative reflects the shared conviction that digital media can improve teaching and learning and encourage more educational participation and equal opportunities. The shape and substance of the digital tranformation will be primarily dictated by what makes political and educational sense, not what is technologically feasible.
To support the shift to new digital learning culture, the forum collaborates with relevant educators, education administrators and education policymakers and brings them together so they can collaborate with one another. Its efforts enable educational pioneers and decision-makers to share ideas and experiences with one another, for example. The forum also publicizes national and international lighthouse projects and best practices.
The forum has also been hosting the annual Konferenz Bildung Digitalisierung, which has evolved into the leading conference for school education and digitalization, since 2016. It has become a venue for educators and players in education administration, civil society, academia and politics to share views on the development of education in the digital world and visions for the future of schooling, discuss innovative approaches to education and digitalization and drive the development of digital education. The next installment of the conference will be held in the fall of 2022.
